Indian Education in the Rapid City Area Schools through Title VII Federal Grants provides supplemental services to American Indian students. The Title VII Indian Education grant allows us to provide academic assistance to students in grades K-12, as well as help with monitoring attendance and increasing the graduation rate for American Indian students.
The grant and district funds also provide for parent involvement and the program supports an active Parent Advisory Committee (PAC). All parents are encouraged to participate in the monthly meetings as program events and activities are discussed.
Cultural activities and presentation are provided by the Title VII staff members in the classrooms during the school year. Staff members are housed at Knollwood, Horace Mann and General Beadle Elementary, North and Dakota Middle, and Central and Stevens High schools.
There are 2161 American Indian students from federally recognized tribes enrolled in the program, and 2635 American Indian students enrolled the Rapid City Area School District.
